A fully vaccinated Kamal Haasan infected by COVID19 had recently visited the United States. The Vikram star has warned his fans and followers that the pandemic is still raging and we should never drop our guards down.
Taking to Twitter on Monday, Kamal Haasan revealed that he had a slight cough after returning from the United States and tests revealed COVID19 infection. He had mentioned that he had been admitted in hospital and isolated himself.
Kamal’s COVID19 infection and hospitalization follows the hospitalization and recovery of another big star of Tamil cinema, Rajinikanth in the first week of November. Though it was maintained that Rajini was admitted for routine check-ups, talks were rife about his health. Some even went to the extent of calling it a cheap tactic of promoting his film Annatthe.
In Tamil cinema, Kamal and Rajini are like the two sides of a coin and Kamal, it appears, followed the suit of falling ill like his super star counterpart. After Kamal posted about the infection on Twitter, wishes of recovery are pouring in for the star. Kamal’s Makkal Neethi Maiam was active in the last assembly and recently concluded local body elections in Tamil Nadu. He actively campaigned across the state. But he managed to keep COVID19 at bay and was fully vaccinated.

Not just technologies, he was the first to introduce story concepts. For instance, Mahanadhi spoke about chit-fund frauds though such crime was at its nascent stage in the country then. Kamal’s Michael Madana Kamarajan was a trendsetter for comedy movies in Tamil cinema when Telugu dubbed movies like Ithuthanda Police and Vyjayanthi IPS were ruling the roost here. Though he is used to coming ahead, Kamal Hassan has been rather late in getting the infection. Actors Vijayakanth, Sarath Kumar and Karunas, who were in active politics during the pandemic, were affected. Surya, Karthi and Vishal also announced they were infected with Covid. Kamal is currently shooting for Vikram directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Once back from his US trip, Kamal was to resume the shooting for the film. The film, likely set for the release in March 2022, may miss its deadline, it is feared.
Fans are discussing how Bigg Boss season 5 would proceed without the host. In last week’s show, Kamal announced that there were speculations about him missing the show since he was last seen in Chicago. He told the audience that he was in the US to promote his handloom brand, House of Khaddar.
After Kamal announced the infection and self-isolation, actors like Sarath Kumar, Sri Priya, Fahad Fasil and others wished him speedy recovery. His fans said he would catch up on reading books during his self-isolation.
