In an interview to The Economic Times published on May 29, he said:

“We are ready to have an independent agency look into our¬†plant. Ours is a zero harm, zero waste, zero discharge plant.”

“Lack of awareness is the cause for protest. Fake activists have taken advantage.”

“India produces only about 5% of the copper of the world and 95% is supplied by Canada, Middle East, Germany, Europe etc.”

“Our plant has been rated the best among all the plants. We have invested Rs. 500 crore in environmental protection measures.”

“Anti-development activists have whipped up emotions. Vested interests want to destablise industry.”

“We are willing to meet protesters and address their concerns.”

On NOC specifying that the plant should be 25 km away from Gulf of Mannar, Agarwal says Gulf of Mannar is not yet a national park. Even in case of national parks, industries can be located beyond 10 km
