You are absolutely right that Music has neither boundary nor religion associated with it.What is unfortunate is your mention to Kannadigas who have been more than welcoming of Tamil artists unlike the Tamil Connoisseurs who prefer a mediocre Tamil musician to a profound Kannadiga musician. This was confirmed by a former secretary of Madras Music Academy that there is lot of protest against inviting Karnataka artists and giving them due recognition. So please decide who is the fanatic here.

You are absolutely right that they have been generally welcoming of Tamil artists. My reference was specific only to incidents in the 1980s when a few artists were heckled for not singing Kannada songs. That said, several artists hailing from Karnataka (incl. yours truly, who was born in Mysore though with Tamil / Kerala roots too!) have been honoured or featured by orgs in Chennai and other cities. In general, as the Sanskrit sayin g goes, “vidwan sarvatra poojyate” (a true scholar is respected everywhere)…
