As indicated by inmathi.com, M K Stalin has been elected unopposed as DMK president. He takes over as president on August 28 morning at the party general council meeting in Chennai when party general secretary K Anbazhagan will formally declare the results of elections to the post of president and treasurer.
Durai Murugan, now principal secretary, has been elected as party treasurer, taking over the post vacated by Stalin.
Stalin thus becomes the second  president of the party, after his father M Karunanidhi, who occupied the post for a record term of 50 years.
Inmathi.com had predicted that Stalin would be elected  unopposed.
Stalin had earlier held the party posts of youth wing general secretary, treasurer and working president, besides, being Mayor of Chennai Corporation, Local Administration minister and Deputy Chief Minister.
